The "American Car World" Nationals

Wild Bunch Round One, Real Steel Round 2

14th/15th May '05

The weeks before the meeting.

Team Twisted's second season started with the same tent and Bongo setup as 2004, but after a couple of meetings of frozen tents and cramp conditions in the Bongo van, the team decided that a bigger van was needed. And what better than a long wheel base high roof Transit? Within 3 hours of the purchase, Helen was already painting the interior purple and draft plans of the layout where being formed.

Nice gloves! but wrong team's colours.

Dean's design for a bed frame/garage storage looked simple enough on paper, but 30m of tubing and 2 days cutting and welding construction later, showed it wasn't that simple but well worth the effort.

And Christine wondered why it took so long for us to "make the bed"

And vis zis devise ve vil rule za vorld!

As usual P and P where the first to try it out for comfort and "pizza-bility"

The addition of lights, a high level storage shelf, clothes rail and partition curtains completed the boudoir. In the coming weeks the addition of a sink and cooker unit would complete the ensemble, but for now Pooky and Penny were happy to test their new passion wagon as it was.

Team Twisted is now ready to race.

Read what happened over the weekend..

When the work was finished we had a triple bed/ sofa and garage with adaptable internal storage. The whole design is also removable should the van need to be used as a van rather than a Twisted Weekend Wagon.
