The Mini Showdown

Wild Bunch Round 4 and Real Steel Round 6

Sunday 17th July '05

Sunday saw slightly less of a crowd but a couple of people had come back for more!! After prepping the Belle we set off for a great days racing. Reviewing Saturday's practice runs we dialled in 10.35

The first round took place at about half past twelve and a 10.46 at 126mph was a bit under par to what we had expected. The new calculation system means that the only way to compensate for an off-pace run is to hit bang on for the rest of the day, so we had our work cut out!

Crew hard at work prepping the Belle.

The second round came two hours later and a 10.31 at 128mph got us closer to our dial in. At this point the extreme heat led the Bunch to decide to have a slightly longer break and only run one more round.

The final round was at 4 o'clock and we had it all to play for, running against the championship leader Tony Smith. We ran a 10.36 at 127mph, only 0.01 seconds off our dial-in.

After a fantastic weekend racing and celebrating, we packed up the pit and headed off to the Backdraft bus to applaud the weekend's champions. Little did we know, but our excellent third round result had moved us up the field and we had come in second place! We also picked up the trophy for Best Appearing Team which was an added bonus.

Once again, thanks to all the Bunchers, track staff and organisers for a brilliant weekend, and thanks to our fiends and family for cheering us and the whole Bunch on!
